Environmental protection

At GLS, we care about our effect on the world around us. Every parcel and the related logistics and transport processes have an impact on natural resources and generate carbon emissions. To continue our mission of connecting people around the world while protecting the environment for future generations, we launched our group-wide environmental strategy, Climate Protect. This initiative aims to maximise our positive impact on environmental protection and to ensure that knowledge and efforts are shared and implemented throughout our entire international network.

At the end of 2023, GLS Group committed to setting near-term and long-term science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its operations in line with the Science Based Targets initiative.

Climate Protect measures

We have taken steps to reduce our impact on the environment, as have our delivery partners. GLS France has implemented the following measures:

  • Electrifying our fleet
Our partners use a range of electric vehicles, such as e-vans and cargo bikes.
  • Equipping our sites with electric terminals
Over 75% of our branch network is equipped with electric charging points for delivery vehicles.
  • Implementing alternative parcel delivery solutions
We deliver to Voisin Relais and lockers.
  • Using green electricity
92% of our sites are equipped with electricity from 100% renewable sources. By providing employees and partners with on-site charging points, we are helping our ecosystem to reduce the level of carbon emissions from vehicles.
